A pedalboard for the record books

The GearTrap.com crew may have just reserved themselves some fresh ink in the next edition of the Guinness Book of World Records by assembling a fully-functioning, 142-stomp pedalboard. The massive undertaking was part of the group’s Summer NAMM party in Nashville last week. The board – the brainchild of GearTrap’s Jaux King and Aljon Go – sported a surface area of about 45 square feet. Due to venue space restraints, it was formed in an oval, however if it had been laid out in a straight line it would have had been almost 36 feet long and a foot and a half deep.

Beyond the giant board, the party also featured performances and clinics from: Former (pop/rock), Shawn O’Bryan Smith (jazz), Mellow Down Easy (blues), Toddzilla of JonesWorld, Creation Audio Lab’s clinician and Premier Guitar columnist Bryan Lionman, Visual Sound guitar effects founder Bob Weil, Mad Professor Amp’s Harri Koski, Pedaltrain founder and key event sponsor John Chandler and legendary guitar guru Seymour Duncan. There were also appearances by several event sponsors Mike Farley of Farley’s Musical Essentials/Mighty Bright Lights and Kimberly Lewis, president of George L’s Musical Products.

A silent auction also was held at the shindig. Party-goers bid on Epiphone and Kramer guitars along with various accessories donated by event sponsors. The auction raise $1400 for the National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

An application has been submitted to Guinness to claim the record. When the guys hear back, we’ll let you know the verdict. Meanwhile, Jaux and Aljon have already started planning next year’s event.
