Let’s face it… distortion pedals are a dime a dozen. Many have common elements leading to common sounds all under the guise of a different name and unique paint job. Still, there are some distortions that hit the market these days with a little something extra under the hood. This was our hope for the Aria from the New York-based pedal gurus at Pigtronix. The Aria promises a singing distortion tone more powerful than a modded tube screamer and tastier than an old Muff… ahem. We hit up Pigtronix top hog David Koltai to send us an Aria for review, and he obliged. But does this little red wonder deliver on the promise or is it just another buzz box?
Probably the most talked about pedal at all of Summer NAMM wasn’t an effect at all… instead it was Pigtronix’s slick new effect tool, the Keymaster Re-amp Effects Mixer. As we’ve already told you, the Keymaster sports dual, true bypass FX loops that can run in series or in parallel. The pedal will allow you to run a line level signal out of the recording console, into effects then an amplifier, or back into the console via one simple interface. A parallel blend feature allow you to mix two different effects or effects chains together. Confused? Let Pigtronix top hog Dave Koltai walk you through the rest of the features after the jump!
David Koltai and the Pigtronix crew had two new offering on display at Summer NAMM this week – the Keymaster re-amp effects mixer and the Tremvelope envelope tremolo. The Keymaster has dual, true bypass FX loops that can run in series or in parallel. In the studio, the Keymaster will allow you to run a line level signal out of the recording console, into effects then an amplifier, or back into the console via one simple interface. A parallel blend feature allow you to mix two different effects or effects chains together! More info on both pedals – including price and availability – is coming soon! For now, check out the close up pics of each after the jump!

David at Pigtronix showcased his latest offering at the NAMM show today, including the Envelope Phaser and brand-new Philosopher King stomp. The P-King is a new combination pedal that takes the best parts of the old Attack Sustain pedal and the Philosopher’s Tone stomp and kicks them into overdrive. A new distortion set-up and controls including hold level, release time, one-shot mode and selectable auto reset make the pedal a compression/sustain monster. Mix in an expression pedal input for additional textures and you’ve got a very versatile tone machine. The P-King will be available a little later this year. Check out the close-up after the jump!
David at Pigtronix has unveiled his new Aria distortion pedal – a stomp he says takes a unique approach to diode clipping that retains the expressive nature of your music while imparting creamy sustain and enhanced harmonic content. The Aria comes with a three-band active EQ that is voiced for maximum versatility. The Aria’s 12db/octave EQs boost and cut at carefully selected frequencies, allowing the player to adapt to a variety of amps or to craft entirely new tones. Sound clips of the new true-bypass, analog stomp are available at Pigtronix website. Pricing and availability info coming soon. Stay tuned!
New York-based Pigtronix, fresh off the release of its Mothership analog synth, is showing off a group of new stops at the Winter NAMM show this week, headlined by the Envelope Phaser and Philosopher’s Tone dirt pedal. David and the Pigtronix crew were also showing off a couple of ‘in process’ pedals including one called the ‘Red Fuzz’ (working name). We gave a listen to each stomp at the Pigtronix booth this morning and they all sound like winners to us. The Envelope Phaser and the Philosopher’s Tone should be available soon. Check out the pics after the jump!
